Heartsaver is an American Heart Association credentialed course for lay persons. A Heartsaver-AED card will be issued to all registrants who complete the course.

North Central Baptist Hospital Joint Club Gets Up and Running

Considering a knee or hip replacement? Joint Replacement Clubs make the process much easier. Baptist Health System has Center of Excellence Joint Clubs at Northeast and St. Luke's Baptist Hospitals. Now North Central Baptist Hospital is offering Joint Club for all patients undergoing joint replacement surgery.

Patients get to meet other people also undergoing the procedure, go through educational classes together and even rehab together. Going through the process with others has been shown to help patients recover faster and easier.

The new classes at North Central Baptist Hospital are offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to Noon in Atrium Classrooms 1 A&B. Patients are encouraged to bring a family member or friend to the class as their "coach."

Women's Services Tour at North Central Baptist Hospital

Expectant mothers and their families are invited to attend a tour of North Central Baptist Hospital's Women's Services area.� Tours are offered on the first Monday of every month at 4:00 pm, 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm�and 8:00 pm.�

The tour includes orientation to the Atrium Lobby, hospital parking and entrances, the Mother's Milk First Lactation Center, the Labor and Delivery Unit, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Newborn Nursery, Post Partum, family waiting areas and amenities available to mom after delivery including a free portrait session for baby and post partum massage.� Throughout the evening food is available, vendors showcase products aimed at new and expectant mothers and a pediatrician is on-site to answer questions.� This is a great opportunity to pre-register for delivery and become acquainted with North Central.�

Baptist Health System offers diabetes self-management training classes at each of their 5�hospital locations in conjunction with the American Diabetes Association. The program is a two-day, 10-hour course designed to help patients take control of their diabetes.

The goal of the program is to help each individual with diabetes make the lifestyle changes necessary to improve diabetes control and preserve future health.�The American Diabetes Association recognizes this educational service as meeting national standards.

"Starting Now" Stroke Education Program

Are you or a family member at risk of having a stroke or currently recovering from a stroke? "Starting Now" is a free stroke education program offered by Baptist Health System in San Antonio. Stroke education classes for patients and caregivers, are just a few of the services offered for patients recovering from stroke through the Brain and Stroke Network at Baptist Health System.

Join Our Ostomy Support Group

The ostomy support group is here for patients who have had or will have an intestinal or urinary diversions including urostomy, cystectomy, colostomy and ileostomy.�The Baptist Health System ostomy support group is a satellite group of the American Cancer society in�connection with the Ostomy Association of South Texas.

The group offers education, support and encouragement. Ostomy nurses from the community attend and offer their expertise to the group.

The group meets on the 3rd Sunday of every month at Northeast Baptist Hospital, in the classroom on the 1st floor (by elevator A) at 3pm.
